Holy Crap, we're under the one month mark!

Oh GEEZ!!! I'm now 3 days under the 1 month mark...!!! How in the heck am I supposed to get everything done in less than a month? Someone please tell me!?!! I have to arrange my financials (hahaha, as if there were any real financials... I have to arrange to pay BACK money is what I mean), figure out licensing crap, apply for graduation (I finished my Masters required class on Friday, which is pretty AWESOME), pack my suitcases, pack the rest of my junk into boxes to be stored, see all of my friends, make some money because of aforementioned payments, spend time with my parents, eat everything I can made by Dairy Queen and other non-Mexico restaurants, finish school (ugh!!), and somehow remember to breathe and sleep (haha, yeah right).

Anyone got any tips on how to do all of that? Sheesh.

Today I am going to Target to do some price checking on products that I want to buy here before I leave, pick up some of those space-saver baggy things, and to exchange my Harry Potter 5 (espaƱol version). Then it'll be homework all day. I had planned to have a life tonight, but maybe not. Maybe I will do homework and try to put some stuff in boxes.

I'm feeling somewhat stressed.

Newest, more permanent (we hope!) Flight info

I leave the comforts of home on July 25th, 2009. I'm flying US Airways. I leave at 8am, connect in Phoenix, arrive in Zihua at 3:32pm.

US Airways 937: MSP to PHX
Departs: 8 am (CDT)
Arrives: 9:11 am (MST)

US Airways 313: PHX to ZIH
Departs:10:18 am (MST)
Arrives 3:32 pm (CDT)

What does CDT stand for? Central District Time? That can't be right.

Anywho, that's the newest info.

Hang on, WHAT now? Damnit.

I made this face a lot when I got the news:

Ok, just kidding. I thought I was leaving on August 1st, but I just got an email from the English coordinator at my school who informed me that school actually starts on the 3rd of August, but orientation is the 31st of July... WHICH means that, with my original ticket, I would miss orientation... to a new school... in a new district... in a different country... where they speak a different language! NOT ok. So I'm changing my flight to the 25th and sucking it up and JUMPING right in. What else can I do? Such is life I guess.

So, new plan: leave a week earlier than planned. Ok, I can handle that, but for some reason, that one week seems like a really important week. Pako was just happy to have me their 6 days earlier, which is nice, but he's not the one paying the change of flight fees! Plus, I'm really going to miss my mommy!

2 months and counting (down)..

Yesterday I bought my plane ticket! It's official! I am moving to Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico to teach English to a whole bunch of kids I don't know yet, but most probably have more money than me.. dang! Except awesome that I have a job and it just happens to be in my field of choice! August 1st, 2009 at 8:00 am!

This is what my summer looks like:

*3 Classes at the U of MN-TC (ugh, go BADGERS!) to finish up my licenses (K-12 Spanish, ESL) and my Masters of Ed. (Second Languages and Cultures)
*See as many friends/family as possible and re-visit classic Mpls/St. Paul sites (so far on the list: Como Zoo, MN Zoo, Sculpture Gardens, Cathedral (never been!), Capitol (also never been) ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?)
*Decide what goes in the 'donate pile,' the 'sell-to-consignment-store-and-hope-they-give-me-some-money pile,' the 'store-and-maybe-never-see-again pile,' the 'parents-will-bring-in-February pile,' and the 'PACK pile.' This is going to be super awesome and tons of fun...
*Make some money/stop bleeding money
*Mentally prepare for the newest, biggest adventure
*Going-away party sometime in late July, details to follow.

So anyway, this is where I'll be posting the daily funny stories that inevitably happen to people when they move to a different country, where the culture and language are different and where they stick out like a sore thumb! Please feel free to leave comments, email me directly, call me (cell phone number to be posted when I know it) because getting calls from people from the States will probably be the highlight of quite a few of my days, or text or whatever. Communicate with me, chances are I miss you!

Hasta luego y ahi pa la proxima!
